What is NFLPool.org?
NFLPool started in 1998 with a very basic "rank the games in order and pick the winner of each game"... The site has evolved over the years. This year we're keeping it pretty much the same as last year.
My Picks Game
- Spreads are entered typically on Wednesday morning. You will receive an email when the week is ready for your picks.
- You have 100 points each week to "bet" on as many games as you want, against the spread (if one exists). If no spread exists, you're betting the game straight up.
- You can change your picks up until the respected game kicks off.
- The most points you can bet on any one game is 20.
- You can have up to two games each week, OVER 10 points (up to 20 points). You can have as many 10 point games as you'd like.
- IF the the spread, ie - Vikings (-3) vs. Packers (+3), matches the final score, ie - Vikings 21, Packers 18, NO points are awarded to those who bet on this game.
Double Knockout Game
- You pick a team you believe will win, straigh up (no spreads involved here).
- Once you use a team, you can no longer use the team for the remainder of the season.
- If your team wins, you move to the next week.
- If your team loses, you have a strike against you. Two strikes and you're done for the season (for this game).
- Last player(s) standing win the entire Knockout pot. (In the event of a tie, the money will be split evenly. If entire 17-week regular season is completed, everyone who has lasted, even if they have one KO, is still considered in the game and will be in the money.)
Payments & Pay outs:
$100 (or $110) for the season. -
Venmo (@Josh-Thue) is preferred, but you can also pay me in cash or check before the season starts - but no IOUs.
Pay outs will be sent out after the superbowl.
* Optional $10 "insurance" fee if you want your picks to be made randomly for you if you forget to make them or forget to finish them for the week (including your Knockout pick).
Late picks will never be accepted under ANY circumstances.
Pay out Breakdown:
$77.00 - Weekly My Picks Game ($4.50/week * 17 weeks)
$5.00 - "Double Knockout" Game
$5.00 -
Regular Season Total Points Winner
$3.00 - Playoffs/Superbowl winner - format TBD later
Winning: (My Picks)
$4.50 per person mutilplied by the total number of players will give us the total weekly pay out.
Note: This will be determined based on the size of the field. I would like to pay out to about 25% of the total players this year
Ties:
In the event of a tie, the money will be split like a PGA tournament. If you don't know how that works - ask me or look it up.
Additional things to keep in mind:
You can only win as many points as you bet for that week. Forgetting to distribute all 100 points for the week is your own fault.
Absolutely no picks will be accepted via email. I don't care if the site is down on a Sunday morning before kickoff - no late picks will be accepted this year.
I strongly advise making your picks early in the week, just in case. You can always change them up to 10 minutes before kickoff.
If the site is down, I am notified immediately and do what I can to get it back online. We are up over 99% of the time.
I repeat, I will NOT accept picks via email/phone. If you only have internet access on Sunday mornings and you're worried about not getting your picks in on time,
I highly recommend signing up for the optional $10 insurance.
Final Comments:
Spreads occasionally get entered incorrectly, typically backwards. If (when) that happens, you will be emailed if the spreads change. If you
haven't made your picks yet, it's not big deal... If you have your picks in, you might want to take a look at how the changes affected your picks.
You can always change your picks up until 10 minutes before the first game of the week.
